Veteran actor and producer Dheeraj Kumar died at the age of 79. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. The renowned personality was in critical condition and was on ventilator support before his death. The official note from Kumar’s family on his demise read, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dheeraj Kumar, a renowned actor, producer, and director, who left us due to cardiac arrest. He was under treatment at Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri West and was on ventilator support. The industry mourns the loss of a talented professional who contributed significantly to the world of entertainment. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.”

Dheeraj, 79 was one of the most popular TV artists of his time. He entered the industry with a talent show along with Subhash Ghai and Rajesh Khanna, in which Khanna became the winner. He has done about 1 Punjabi films from 1970 to 1984.
He has worked in films like Heera Panna, Roti Kapda Aur Makan, Sargam, Kranti and Raton Ka Raja. The actor was popularly known for his TV shows including Om Namah Shivay, Adalat, Mili, Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyan, among others. He also started a production company, Creative Eye and was its chairman and managing director.
